《巨砚》的语言风格与英译研究

《巨砚》是徽州作家李平易的代表作品,《中国文学》1987年秋季号上刊登了《巨砚》的英译版。本着宣传徽州地域文化的初衷,从词汇、修辞、句法、语篇以及叙事等五个角度探析《巨砚》的语言风格和翻译,认为译文比较好地传递出了原文语言洗练、结构匀称、意蕴丰富、格调冷峻的特点和风格,从而说明把握好原作的语言风格,并尽力在译文中传递原文的语言风格,原作的整体风格就能在译文中得到最大程度的传译。

The Giant Inkstone is a representative work of Li Ping-yi,a well-known Huizhou writer.In 1987,its English version is published in the Autumn Version of Chinese Literature.This article,aimed at promoting Huizhou culture,gives a detailed study on the translation of The Giant Inkstone.Based on a comparative study of its source text and target one,the article finds out that the two texts are much consistent with each other in diction,rhetorical devices,sentence patterns,text cohesion and the narrative.Consequently the target text well conveys the linguistic style of the source one in conciseness,balanced construction,rich implication and sarcastic tone.Thus if the linguistic style of a source text is well conveyed in the translated one,its integral style can be retained to the best effect in translation.
