The book Cultivating the Mind and Forming the Body-the Study on the Body Aesthetics of the Pre-Qin Period“ analyzes the historical development process of the body aesthetics of the pre-Qin and highlights some important issues concerning the aesthetics of the body,to present the body aesthetics of the pre-Qin period in a relative systematically theoretical way.The author also deeply explores the ethnic characteristics and universal values of the pre-Qin body aesthetics,striving to start an exchange between the current body aesthetics research,even the basic theoretical research of aesthetics,and the body aesthetics of the pre-Qin period.This book possesses four advantages: the combination of the ancient and the modern,that is,to study traditional aesthetic resources from the perspective of contemporary aesthetics; combining the combing of historical materials with the exploration of internal logic; the combination of aesthetics and cultural studies; and the combination of ethnic identity consciousness and the consciousness of universal values.These advantages indicate that this book,with broad vision,plentiful content,new perceptions,and strong theoretical consciousness and ideological nature,provides a methodological enlightenment and a good example for us to develop writings regarding the history of body aesthetics.
