民俗文化词汇翻译初探——以鲁迅短篇小说《社戏》的英译为例

A Study on the Translation of Folk Culture Vocabulary——Taking the English Translation of Lu Xun's Short Story “Village Opera” as an Example

在进行民俗文化翻译时,文化差异对民俗词汇的翻译产生了很大的影响。为了进一步研究民俗文化词汇的翻译问题,本文以杨宪益与戴乃迭对鲁迅先生所创作的短篇小说《社戏》的翻译为例,分别从特有文化词汇的翻译、原作语言风格的传递两个维度,探讨了译者在翻译民俗文化词汇时,应采取什么样的有效对策才能最大程度地保留原文信息,以便广大目的语读者能够读懂并深刻理解原作中的文化信息与内涵。

When translating folk culture,cultural differences have a great impact on the translation of folk vocabulary. In order to further study the translation of folk culture vocabulary,this paper discusses Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang’s translation of the short story"Village Opera"by Mr. Lu Xun through giving a specific analysis of the translation of the unique cultural vocabulary and the transmission of the original language style. In the deep exploration of the effective countermeasures of folk culture vocabulary translation,this paper aims to help translators think about how to retain the original information to the maximum extent,so that the majority of target readers can read and further understand the information and cultural implications of the original text.
