An Analysis of the influences of the French Revolution on the English radical movement

1789年法国爆发大革命,法国人民推翻君主制、建立共和国的经历震撼了英国,在英国国内,引发了一场有关宪政问题的大讨论,使一些沉寂的激进政治团体恢复生机,还催生了新的激进组织,辉格党内部出现了支持改革的左翼。但是,随着法国革命中恐怖统治的漫延,英国国内保守气氛和势力日益强大,18世纪90年代的激进运动最终在政府的高压之下走向衰落。这次激进运动虽然没有达成预期目标,却在许多政治问题上成功地教育了民众,为19世纪英国民主运动奠定了基石。

The French Revolution outbroke in 1789. The French overthrowed the monarchy and established the Repulic. It shocked England. It led to a great discussion about the Constitutional Politics. Some dying radical organizations recovered. New radical organizations appeared. The left Whig supported the parliamentary reform. With the spread of the rule of terror in the French Revolution, the Conservative atmosphere and power in England grew stronger. Under the government suppress, the radical movement of 1790 Ss declined. The radical movement did not achieved its goal, but it educated the people on many political issues. It laid foundations for the English democratic movement in the 19 th century.
