传神达意:壮族谚语英译策略研究

Vividness and Faithfulness: On Zhuang-English Translation Strategies for Zhuang Proverbs

"传神达意"是典籍英译的标准与指导原则。壮族谚语是壮族口头传统的经典文本,是生生不息的壮民族文化活态生命的体现。在壮族谚语英译中,既要保持原作风貌,也要在精神实质上相似,达到形似与神似的结合,在表现壮族谚语的形式美、韵律美与内容美的同时,也要做到字词达意、修辞达意与文化达意,才能实现"传神地达意"。文章解读汪榕培"传神达意"翻译思想,基于大量的实例分析,探讨"传神达意"在壮族谚语壮语英译中的应用,以此丰富民族典籍英译理论与实践研究的新成果。

Vividness and faithfulness is a guideline and a criterion for the translation of ethnic cultural classics.Zhuang proverb is a sub-genre of precious Zhuang traditions.In Zhuang-English translation of Zhuang proverbs,vividness is achieved when beauty of the original text in content,form and rhythm can be conveyed in the translation,and faithfulness is attained when the translation is faithful to the source text in words,rhetorical devices and cultural connotation.Starting from an analysis of Professor Wang Rongpei’s theory of Vividness and Faithfulness,the paper discussed how the theory was properly applied in Zhuang-English translation of Zhuang proverbs.
