Overthrowing tradition:The imagery research of Cherry in Ango Sakaguchi's Under Cherries Forest in Full Bloom

樱花自古深受日本人的喜爱,但它成为日本国民性的象征,却是近代以来的事情。日本战后作家坂口安吾的小说《盛开的樱花林下》讲述了山贼通过与樱花、女人这些"他者"的遭遇从而完成人格成长的故事。小说中的樱花林正是山贼得以"堕落"的空间,通过"堕落"回到生命的本源与故乡。这正是坂口安吾针对一片废墟的战后日本所发出的重生和更新的呼叫。

Although cherry blossoms have been popular with the Japanese since ancient times,it became a symbol of Japanese nationality after modern times.The short novel Under Cherries Forest in Full Bloom,written by Ango Sakaguchi,is a horror story of a man,a woman and the forest of cherry trees.Through analyzing the mental entanglement among them,the author of this paper reveals the symbolic meaning of the forest of cherry trees which exists as the source of life.This is exactly the call that Ango Sakaguchi made for the rebirth and renewal of Japan after the war in ruins.
