张爱玲在《十八春》中表现出对中国现代女性命运的思考。女性悲剧命运集中表现为女性对男性的依赖,不单单在生存上、物质上,更重要的是在精神上对男性的巨大依赖。她们对未来充满了憧憬,追求幸福的方式也是多样的,但最终都逃脱不了悲剧性的命运。张爱玲在《十八春》中描摹了众多的女性,从不同侧面分析了她们悲剧命运背后的根源。顾曼桢和石翠芝代表了那个时期女性意识的萌芽,顾曼璐是一个被奴化的女性典型。而顾太太和沈太太作为两个母亲,张爱玲把她们作为凡人来写,这一改母亲在大众心中的伟大傲岸形象,张爱玲甚至把一些丑化的痕迹留在了她们身上。

Eileen Chang shows the deeply thought of the fate of Chinese modem women in Eighteen Springs.The reason that leads to the tragic fate is mainly that women rely on men,not only on the survival and material,but also on the spiritual aspect.They are looking forward to the future and take various ways to pursue happiness,but eventutdly,they do not get rid of the tragic life.In Eighteen Springs,Eileen Chang describes many women and￡inalyses the root cause behind their tragic fate from different prospective.Gumanzhen and Shicuizhi are the representatives of the wake of feminist consciousness in that period.And Gumanlu is a typical chtiracter that is enslaved.However,as a mother,Mrs Gu￡ind Mrs Shen are just ordinary persons.They are no longer the great mother in audiences^regular cognitions.Eileen Chang even uglifies them on purpose.
