Continuation of Yancheng County Records,published in the period of the Republic of China,is a sort of local chronicles about Yancheng.It records a lot of phonetic and lexical materials about Yancheng dialect.This paper introduces the style of these dialect materials,analyses the pronunciation,vocabulary and grammar characteristics of Yancheng dialect,and holds that the book is of great value in understanding the pronunciation and vocabulary features of Yancheng dialect,and in studying the use of words and the evolution of pronunciation of Yancheng dialect.
