Great Knowledge and Achievement:The Sinology Seminar of Zhang Taiyan and National Spirit Formation

国学大师章太炎先生从1906年至1936年,先后在东京、上海、北京和苏州等地举办国学讲习会,以较为通俗的语言向社会各界宣传国学,激励种性,增进爱国热肠。章太炎的国学演讲以经学为基础,对经学的基本问题作了较为全面的阐述;以小学为主要内容,尤其强调研究小学的意义和方法;章太炎对诸子学的演讲有着强烈的政治理想,其目的是要在近代历史条件下重新认识诸子的是非和文化价值;同时,章太炎在演讲中十分强调文学与社会发展之间的密切联系,希望从文学的创作中找到时代盛衰的因素。章太炎国学讲习会对国学做了一番彻底的总检讨,赋予国学以新内涵,期望重塑中国之魂,给国人以强烈的爱国情怀和文化自信,并培养了一大批国学专门人才。

Mr.Zhang Taiyan,the master of Chinese culture,had been engaging in ancient Chinese literature propaganda from 1906 to 1936.By teaching the sinology in a more popular language,he inspired the nation and promoted the patriotic heat.Zhang Taiyan's sinology speeches were based on the study of Confucian classics,and gave a more comprehensive exposition of the basic issues of Confucian classics.He took philology as the main content,especially emphasized the significance and method of the philology study.He had a strong political ideal about all classes of authors in order to reunderstand them in modern history.In his speech,Zhang Taiyan stressed the close relationship between literature and social development,and hoped to find the factors of the ups and downs of the times from literary creation.Zhang Taiyan's sinology seminar had made a thorough review of the Chinese ancient civilization,given new meanings to sinology in order to reshape the soul of China.It provided a strong sense of patriotism and cultural self- confidence,and cultivated a large number of specialized talents on sinology.
