In the field of international politics,diplomacy has various forms and sports is one of them.It is a common way of conducting the sports diplomacy to add some sports element in diplomatic activities or to directly use sports events as a diplomatic means.Since the end of WWII,on the basis of its special identity and international status,Japan has used sports diplomacy as an important instrument to improve its national image and international status.Japan’s Sports diplomacy funda mentally serves for its national interests.Exploring and analyzing the essence of Japan’s sports diplomacy contributes to a deeper overall understanding for Japans diplomacy in providing a new perspective for the study of Japanese public diplomacy.
