On the Historical Position of Xugaoseng zhuan in the Writing of Monk's Biographies

唐释道宣《续高僧传》在中国佛教史籍(僧传)中具有承上启下的地位,《续高僧传》继承并创新了僧传的写作思想与写作方法,并将其经典化、规范化,使之成为传统,为后世"僧传"所遵从。从写作学的视角分五个方面总结分析了其方式方法,揭示了《续高僧传》对后世僧传撰写的重要影响,也进一步明确了《续高僧传》在僧传撰著历史上的地位。

Shi Daoxuan's Xugaosengzhuan in Tang Dynasty is a link between the preceding and the following in Chinese Buddhist historical books especially biographies of monks.It inherits and innovates the literary writing ideas and writing methods of the biographies of monks,and also classicalizes and standardizes them into a tradition which is followed by later generations'biographies of monks.From the perspective of writing,this paper summarizes and analyses its ways and methods from five aspects,reveals the important influence of Xugaosengzhuan on the later generations'biographies of monks,and further clarifies the position of Xugaosengzhuan in the history of biography of monks.
