As a contemporary Irish poet,Paul Muldoon's focus on Celtic mythological archetype is closely bond to the history of Ireland.From the 1970s to 1980s,the hybrid archetype showing multiple characteristics centers on turmoil of homeland and identity dilemma.Since the late 1980s,the traveler archetype implying exile desire has derived from the poet's concern about living status,which reveals his unique circular philosophy.From this,it can be seen that no doubt the mother culture is the ground of the poet's creation.However,in the context of cultural pluralism,the poet also attempts to explore the future of the national culture in a groundless way.
