A Study on the Connotation of the Modeling of Folk Stone Lions in Southern Fujian

民间石狮雕刻是通过形态语言呈现传统造物意涵,传达民间审美与民俗意象。闽南民间石狮雕刻保守中原文化元素,亦与闽南区域其他元素文化杂糅交融,衍化为蹲立扭头、捏腰顾盼、憨态可掬的闽南民间石狮造型,其中富含传统文化内涵和闽南民俗事象。

Folk stone lion carvings presented the connotation of traditional creations through nonverbal language and conveyed the aesthetic appreciation and images of the folk culture.The folk stone lion carvings in Southern Fujian reserved the elements of the central plain culture while integrated with other cultural elements in Southern Fujian.On such a basis,they evolved into those stone lions with charmingly naive Southern Fujian folk styles in the posture of squatting,head-turning,waist-twisting or looking around,which were rich in connotation of the traditional culture and images of Southern Fujian folk custom.
