摘要
五行元素"金、木、水、火、土"同为中国五行学说的一部分,各自以其基本释义为基础,引申出了在中英文释义上的独有义项。本文将从认知隐喻的角度出发,结合历史文化、思维方式等其他因素,探究其产生引申义的原因,并分析此类现象对英语教学的启示。
The five elements of"gold,wood,water,fire and earth"are parts of the Five-element Theory in China.Based on their basic meanings,they extend their unique meanings in both Chinese and English.This paper will start from the perspective of cognitive metaphor,combining with other factors such as history,culture and modes of thinking,to explore the reasons for the extension of meanings,and analyze the implications of such phenomenon for English teaching.
