Yan Dunjie and the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences,Chinese Academy of Sciences

严敦杰早年专职会计工作,业余研究科学史。经过激烈的思想斗争与抉择,1956年走上职业科学史研究道路。他曾参与创建中国科学院自然科学史研究所的前身中国自然科学史研究室,起草该室筹建方案与该室工作和全国科学史研究工作十年发展纲要,较长时间推动着该室与自然科学史研究所研究事业的发展。但他在这条道路上并非一帆风顺,"文革"结束前频繁遭受政治运动的冲击,学术研究工作和身体均受到影响。本文还原严敦杰走上职业科学史研究道路的原因和过程,论述他对中国自然科学史研究室的创建与自然科学史研究所的发展做出的贡献,以及政治运动对他的影响。

Yan Dunjie specialized in accountancy in his early years and studied the history of science in his spare time.He embarked on the road of professional research on the history of science after fierce ideological struggle and through personal choice in 1956.He participated in the founding of the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences,Chinese Academy of Sciences,drafting the Institute s preparation plan and the ten years development outline for the institute s work and the ten years development outline for the whole nation s research work of history of science.Over quite a long period,he pushed forward the development of the research of the Institute.However,this road was not always smooth.Before the end of the Cultural Revolution,he was frequently impacted by political movements.Both his academic research work and health were affected.This paper restores the reasons and process by which Yan Dunjie embarked on the road of professional research on the history of science,and discusses his contribution to the establishment of the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences and its development,while also studying the influence of political movements on him.
