摘要
《推销员之死》是一部由景观引发的故事。主人公威利·洛曼的一生都与其所在区域的公寓景观、房屋景观以及花园景观有着紧密的联系。景观不仅是戏剧发生的几何空间,还是戏剧主题的重要表征媒介。本文运用文学地理学理论和生态文化思想,通过分析景观作为当代资本主义生产方式的视觉影像对社群关系、家庭关系以及人与自然关系所建构的在场性影响与意义,能够发现主人公威利生存困境的深层机理,揭示戏剧中景观的悲剧维度,对引发人们对当今景观社会的重要思考多有裨益。
Death of a Salesman is a story of landscapes in which the protagonist Willy Loman is through all his life in close touch with such surrounding landscapes as the apartment complex,his house and the back-yard garden.Landscape is not only the geometry space of a drama,but also the important representation medium of drama's themes.This paper,by analyzing the significance and influences that the landscapes,the very visual images of contemporary capitalist production mode,presumably exert on social relationship,family relationship and man-human relationship in particular,centers on interpreting the essential reasons leading to Willy's survival dilemmas and thus disclosing the tragic dimensions that landscapes contain in an attempt to trigger people's deepthinking on the present-day's landscape society,with the leg-up given by the theories of literary geography and Eco-cultural thoughts.
