That the Mikado and the Mikado System were withdrawn from Japanese historical stage was preserved after World War II as the result of a combination of multiple factors including the consideration of the US to use the Mikado and the Mikado System to serve their own interests,Emperor Hirohito’s strategy of retreating for the sake of advance and the efforts of the conservative forces such as Japanese bureaucracy to struggle for“maintaining the kokutai”.The continuation of the Japanese Mikado System is the result of compromise between the conservative forces at home and abroad based on the maximization of their respective interests in the international and domestic situations of the time.
