Cementing is one of the most critical steps in the drilling and completion of oil wells.The current patent analysis was conducted to get an overview of patent landscape for oil well cementing,with focus on identifying additives for property enhancement,emerging trends,the major assignees,and applications in this area.All keywords relevant to cementing additives along with possible synonyms,abbreviations were collected by studying full text of selected literatures of this area.Geographical distribution,assignee analysis and technology analysis were also carried out.Cementing additives develop rapidly and enter the growth stage of technological development.The number of patent applications is the largest among international oil service companies.Domestic enterprises should strengthen patent applications in this area and protect their own technologies IP.
