The canonization of literary works and its sustainability mainly depend on their exemplary characteristics and the readers’acceptability.As an equally famous writer like Lu Ji in the Western Jin Dynasty,Pan Yue’s works are very classic.The acceptation of the“elite readers”and the spreading of the“ordinary readers”in and before the Tang Dynasty make the canonization of Pan Yue’s poetry.Wen Xuan is of great importance in the spreading of his works.The recommendation of the critics and the spreading of Tang poetry make his works have great influence among the society.Wen Xuan,interpreted by Li Shan,presents the great value of Pan Yue’s poetry in the history of literature,which promotes its wide spreading later.After the Song and Yuan Dynasties,the canonization of his works is not influenced by his declining social status.
