Sun Yuxiu is known as “the first person to edit children’s books in China” and “the founder of fairy tales in China”. His contribution to children’s literature creation and children’s reading culture construction in China is groundbreaking. This article starts with Sun Yuxiu’s editing features of children’s books, Sun Yuxiu and the founding of Chinese children’s literature, and Sun Yuxiu’s strategic significance of Chinese children’s reading culture construction, sorting out the accomplishments of Sun Yuxiu and the intellectuals related to children’s literature in his period in order to correctly understand the history and the current situation of the development of children’s literature in our country and the construction of children’s reading culture.
