对民国时期外籍在华图书馆人的整体审视,乃学术界研究的缺失所在。20世纪20年代美籍在华图书馆名人以韦棣华、鲍士伟为代表,二者都是民国时期的著名图书馆人。韦棣华对我国图书馆事业的贡献主要在于1923年赴美活动庚子赔款,以及讲演、创办文华图专、培养专业人才等。鲍士伟与中国的关联,主要在于他1925年来华之行。从对鲍士伟博士来华的筹备如此认真、投入的情形可知其在我国图书馆界的影响力之巨大,同时鲍士伟足迹遍布我国大江南北,对各地图书馆的发展也起到了巨大的推动作用;此外,鲍士伟还参加了中华图书馆协会的成立会。总之,无论是韦棣华,抑或鲍士伟,他们都对民国时期我国图书馆事业的发展产生了巨大的影响,这种外来助力的发展模式是民国时期自成体系的另类模式。

The lack of academic research lies in the overall examination of foreign librarians in China during the period of the Republic of China.In the 1920s,American library celebrities in China were represented by Wei dihua and Bao shiwei,both of whom were famous librarians in the republic of China.Wei Yuhua’s contribution to China’s library industry mainly lies in the indemnity of the Gengzi in the 1923 event,as well as lectures,creation of Wenhuatu,and training of professionals.The relationship between Bao Shiwei and China is mainly due to his trip to China in 1925.From the fact that Dr.Bao Shiwei’s preparations for coming to China are so serious and involved,it is known that its influence in the library community in China is huge.At the same time,Bao Shiwei’s footprints are spread all over the country,which has greatly promoted the development of libraries in various places.In addition,Bao Shiwei also participated in the establishment of China Library Association.In short,whether it is Wei Yuhua or Bao Shiwei,they have had a tremendous impact on the development of China’s library industry during the Republic of China.This development model of external assistance is an alternative model of the self-contained system during the Republic of China.
