Amos Oz was a writer, thinker, political critic and social activist. His two books, Help Us to Divorce and How to Cure a Fanatic , included two identical articles and an interview, representing his political positions and views to European readers. He opposed fanaticism and paranoia, advocating peace and dialogue, neutrality on certain issues, humanity and tolerance on some other issues. Oz’s cure of fanaticism is full of optimism for the future of Israel and Palestine. He hoped that outsiders can objectively comment on Israel through the images he depicted.
