Reflections On Yang Xianyi's Translation Poetics

立足翻译研究文化学派关于翻译诗学的界定,分析杨宪益的中国典籍文献英译实践,从"可译性"的哲学思考、翻译的文化保真、翻译的读者观照和译文标准——"惟信惟真"等四个方面展开杨宪益翻译诗学思想的剖析,力争在翻译文字的吉光片羽中梳理、提炼出杨宪益秉持的翻译理念,为构建具有中国风范、中国气韵的中国翻译思想体系提供典型样本。

Based on the conception of translation poetics defined by school of cultural studies,the paper focused upon Yang Xianyi’s academic thoughts of translation.The paper gives a treatment of Yang’s translation poetics from the four aspects,i.e.,philosophical contemplation on translatability,cultural faithfulness in translation,emphasis on readers’reception and the criteria of translation.With the efforts,we hope to shed lights on summarizing Yang’s translation conceptions so as to provide an model for constructing translation thoughts with Chinese style.
