Emerson’s transcendentalism has exerted great influence on many 19th century American writers including Dickinson and the 20th century American writers.Because of their similar thoughts and emotions,the spirit of the age and creative criteria,it is easy for Dickinson to accept Emerson’s point of view.Emerson’s transcendentalist view of nature influences Dickinson’s poetry in the following aspects:role as bringing infinite pleasure for humans,as tutors for human beings and purifying man’s souls,human’s reverence of nature and the harmony between man and nature.
