基于传播学视角的桂剧翻译探究——以《大儒还乡》为例

A Study on the Translation of Guixi Opera from the Perspective of Communication——A Case Study of The Imperial Secretary's Return to the Native

基于拉斯韦尔与申农所提出的传播模式理论,结合戏剧翻译的特点,英译桂剧时应采用"归化为主、异化为辅"的翻译策略。通过语言的通俗性、简洁性、动作性、个性化、及节奏性这五方面探析《大儒还乡》的英译原则,可总结出相应的桂剧翻译规律:第一,使用简单词与简短句等将英译台词口语化,以符合受众解码能力、通俗易懂;第二,应对桂剧台词进行意译或使用描述性表达来加以替换,使语言简洁、避免信息传输过载;第三,要注重英译台词的动作性,增强桂剧的表现力,让信道保持畅通;第四,英译台词要表现出人物的个性特征,有助于减少传播噪音、增强传播效果;第五,英译桂剧唱词时要保留其形式美和韵律美,引起受众的选择性注意,增强审美体验。

On the basis of the theories of communication model by Lasswell and Shannon and the characteristics of drama translation, it is suggested that the translation of Guixi Opera adopt “domestication goes first, foreignization second” strategy to explore the translation principles of the Imperial Secretary s Return to the Native from the perspectives of the popularity, simplicity, action, personalization, and rhythmicity of language. Hence, the translation rules of Guixi Opera include: first, colloquial English lines with simple words and short sentences is needed to cater to the appreciation ability of audience;second, the lines of Guixi Opera should be free translated or replaced with descriptive expressions to make the language concise and avoid overload of information transmission;third, pay attention to the action of the lines in English version, enhance the expressiveness of Guixi Opera, and keep the communication channel unimpeded;fourth, the lines in English version are supposed to show the characters personality, which is helpful to reduce the communication noise and enhance the communication effect. Fifth, when translating the lyrics of Guixi Opera into English, the beauty in form and rhythm is expected to be retained so as to attract the selective attention of the audience and enhance their aesthetic experience.
