目的论视角下《北京折叠》的英译研究

Translation Study on Folding Beijing from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

中国文化的对外传播一向"重古轻今"。就翻译而言,不管是翻译实践还是理论探讨往往都聚焦于传统典籍,而斩获雨果奖的《北京折叠》为中国科幻文学的输出开辟了道路,给中国当代文化的对外传播提供了新思路,因此有必要对该小说进行英译研究。分析发现译者刘宇昆在目的论的指导下,始终以翻译目的为导向,让译本融入目的语语境和文化的同时传达出原文独特的语言魅力和思想内涵,成功完成了中西方的跨文化交流。

Traditional Chinese culture has been paid so much attention in the course of cultural communication for a long time, which can be seen in translation field where traditional literature prevails both in translation practice and academic research. The international award winner Folding Beijing paves the way for Chinese science fiction “going abroad”, which offers insights for intercultural communication of contemporary Chinese culture. This paper is a translation study on Folding Beijing from the perspective of skopos theory. Results showed that it was Ken Liu’s well-balanced translation strategies dominated by his translation purpose and with unique linguistic characteristics as well as thinking patterns of Chinese that contributed to the success of Folding Beijing and intercultural communication between China and the world.
