Brief Comments on the Overseas Trade of Nanhan

五代十国时期,刘氏建立南汉政权,定都广州,统治岭南地区。南汉时期,实行积极的海外贸易政策,依靠海外贸易积累了庞大的财富,成为五代的富强之国。作为五代时期的地方政权,南汉依然秉持唐代以来的外贸政策,大力发展海外贸易,致力于经济发展,对岭南经济的开发具有一定的恢复和发展。南汉的海外贸易,作为唐宋两朝的中间阶段,在中国古代南海海外贸易中占据重要的地位。

During the period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Liu established Nanhan taking Guangzhou as the capital, and ruled the Lingnan area. During the period of Nanhan, an active overseas trade policy was implemented, and relying on the overseas trade Nanhan accumulated huge wealth and became a rich and strong country of the Five Dynasties. As a regional administrative power during the period of the Five Dynasties, Nanhan still upheld overseas trade policies of the Tang Dynasty, vigorously developed the overseas trade, committed to economic development, and contributed to the recovery and development of Lingnan’s economy. Nanhan’s overseas trade, as the intermediate stage of the Tang and Song dynasties, occupies an important position in the ancient South China Sea’s overseas trade.
