In the 21st century, the standardization of Chinese characters is not only reflected in its communicative function, but also related to national unity, ethnic harmony, and some issues concerning core national interests. The research and progress of the standardization of modern Chinese characters in its essential elements--font, pronunciation, volume, and character order, strive to properly solve the social problems closely related to Chinese characters, so as to make Chinese characters serve the society better, which is of great significance to the standardization work of language in the new era.
