文学作品中的食物与居所和衣着一样,能够揭示人物形象的社会身份和政治经济地位。刘易斯·卡罗尔在"爱丽丝系列"中的食物描写对推动小说情节的发展起了重要作用。作品中的食物成为识别、分类和归类不同角色的阶级和身份的标记;食物作为语言的隐喻,成为奇镜中的上层社会掩盖社会不公或残酷现实的麻醉剂。因此,奇境社会与维多利亚时期的社会政治和社会权力结构一样,也存在着严重的不可调和的阶级对立和阶级冲突。

Food,like the description of residence and clothing in classic literature,forms a special food politics inrevealing identity and status of their characters.Food in“Alice Series”written by Lewis Carroll plays an important role in their plots’development.Through the analysis of the relationship between food and class,this paper finds that the food in the works becomes the mark of class and identity for identifying,classifying and classifying different social roles,which means that food,as a metaphor of language,becomes anesthetic for the upper class in the mirror world covering social injustice or cruel reality.So we can get the conclusion that like the real Victoria society,the mirror world also contains serious and irreconcilable classic opposition and conflict.
