Objective To investigate the parental acceptance rate toward behavior management technologies used in the treatment of pediatric dentistry and analyze the influencing factors. Methods A total of 421 parents who took their children to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from March to June of 2017 were selected, and then parents filled the questionnaire. Parents were asked to determine the acceptability of the four different advanced behavior management technologies including active immobilization, passive immobilization, sedation, general anesthesia using a 100 mm horizontal anchored visual analogue scale(VAS). SPSS 17.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results The order of decreasing acceptance rate was as follows, sedation, active immobilization, general anesthesia, passive immobilization. The difference between each of them was statistically significant( P < 0.05). The residence, the education level and the age of the parents did not have correlation with the acceptance rate of different technologies( P > 0.05). The income of the parents and amount of treatment was relevant to the acceptance rate of general anesthesia by Spearman correlation analysis( P < 0.05). Conclusion Advanced behavior management techniques are not all equally accepted by parents. The acceptability of the techniques varies with different times.
