The description of female body occupies a significant portion in The Autobiography of My Mother by Jamaica Kincaid. By making bold and sharp depiction of the protagonist Xuela s body, the author aims to reveal the wrath and revolt against patriarchy and colonism. Applying French feminist Hélène Cixous s theory of feminine writing, this research attempts to probe into the process of Xuela s struggling from protecting herself, fighting against her fate and constructing self-identity to the utmost defiance against patriarchy and colonism through the analysis of the description of Xuela s body.
