On the Serial Documents of Hankou Series and Wuhan’s Local Culture

范锴在乾隆、嘉庆年间前后于汉口居住十数年,留心汉上见闻,在康乾盛世的背景下写作了《汉口丛谈》六卷。王葆心在民国时期应新闻社之请而增光范锴之书,花了近十年写成《续汉口丛谈》六卷、《再续汉口丛谈》四卷。《汉口丛谈》系列文献系统梳理了历来关涉汉口的历史地理文献,补充、修正了府志、县志当中的诸多阙误,是了解汉口地区历史文化的宝贵资料。其中,关于汉口商业和历史遗迹的记载翔实而“有温度”。范、王二人之书更大的特色在于广搜博记汉上诗文,足补邑乘之缺,统计其书,或可成一“汉口艺文小志”,使人们对地方文艺的了解更加系统和深入。除此之外,武汉地区的书院和教育学术等也都是范、王二人所乐于记录的。该系列文献充分展示了武汉地方文化的悠久历史。

Fan Kai lived in Hankou for more than ten years around the time of Qianlong and Jiaqing Dynasties,and was careful about Hankou.In the context of“Kangxi and Qianlong Golden Age”,he wrote six volumes of Hankou series.In the period of the Republic of China,Wang Baoxin agreed to the request of the news agency to improve the books written by Fan Kai.In the past ten years,Wang wrote six volumes of Continued Hankou series and four volumes of Further Hankou series.The serial documents of Hankou series systematically sorted out the historical and geographical documents related to Hankou,supplemented and corrected many errors in government records and county records.It is a valuable material for understanding the history and culture of Hankou region.The records of Hankou's commercial and historical sites are detailed and authentic.The biggest feature of Fan and Wang's book is to collect poems and articles about Hankou widely.It can make up for the lack of local records.After statistics,it can be compiled into a Book of Hankou poetry and text,so that people can understand the local cultural works more systematically and deeply.In addition,Fan and Wang have detailed records of academies and education in Wuhan.This series of documents fully demonstrates the long history of Wuhan's local culture.
