Li shuchang's Contribution to the Cultural Exchanges between Guizhou and Chongqing

清代光绪中叶,黎庶昌出任川东兵备道道员兼重庆海关监督,在此"酌用西法",给西南大地带来了"欧风美雨"。鼓励工商业者学习外洋生产技术,发展经济,又创办洋学堂培养出国留学人才;出版不少古籍,让"沙滩文化"的成果流布蜀中,他还招纳川东优秀子弟,亲自教授,让黎氏家学传播蜀地,琢育一代又一代人才,至今绵延不辍,使黔渝两地文化交流持久而深入,影响深远。

In the middle period of the reign of the emperor Guangxu in the Qing dynasty, Li Shuchang served as a governor in the east of Sichuan and the supervisor of Chongqing customs. He encouraged entrepreneurs to learn foreign production technology and developed economy, and established foreign schools to cultivate talents for overseas study. He published many ancient books and spread the achievements of "Shatan culture" to Sichuan. He also recruited some excellent children from the east of Sichuan and taught them by himself. He spreads the knowledge of Guizhou to Chongqing, which made the cultural exchange between the two places lasting a long time profound cultural communication,which has a great influence until now.
