Elites from Guizhou Province and Historical Changes in Modern China

贵州人戴戡、熊范舆亲历清末民初的一系列重大变革,在20世纪初叶的时代进程中留下了亮眼的痕迹。基于师友网络的因素,他们大体属于改良派—立宪派—进步党群体,这个群体的政治理想虽然不算成功,但也是"天下"秩序崩溃之后重建一个现代国家的艰难探索和可贵尝试。

Dai Kan and Xiong Fanyu, two eminent figures from Guizhou province, who had experienced and played remarkable roles in a series of political, social and cultural exchanges during late Qing and early Republican China. Through the networks based on personal relationship among teachers, students and friends, they had been involved in a successive political group of Reformists, Constituionalists, and Progressive Party. The political ideal of this group, although not so successful, was also a kind of searching and efforts for modern state-rebuilding after the collapse of traditionally political system of “All under the Heaven”.
