The Connecting Thread——Interview with Chiharu Shiota

1972年,盐田千春出生于日本大阪,现居住生活在德国柏林。面对人类的普遍关心话题,例如生命、死亡、关系,盐田千春在多维度的创作中探索人类存在的主题,这样的探索在她包含各种普通物品和纪念品的大型线装置、绘画、雕塑、摄影作品和视频影像中都可以看到。盐田千春在纽约MoMA PS1、大阪国立国际美术馆、巴黎红屋艺术中心、高知县立美术馆、华盛顿弗雷尔和萨克勒美术馆、上海当代艺术博物馆、杜塞尔多夫K21美术馆举办过展览。同时,她的作品也在重要的国际展览中亮相,包括悉尼双年展、日本濑户内国际艺术节、韩国光州双年展、日本横滨三年展。2015年,盐田千春代表日本参加了第56届威尼斯双年展。

Born in Osaka in 1972,Chiharu Shiota is now living and working in Berlin.Confronting fundamental human concerns such as life,death and relationships,Shiota explores human existence throughout various dimensions,either in her large-scale thread installations that include a variety of common objects and external memorabilia or through her drawings,sculptures,photography and videos.Shiota’s museum exhibitions include MoMA PS1,New York;National Museum of Art,Osaka;La Maison Rouge,Paris;The Museum of Art,Kōchi;Freer and Sackler Galleries of Art,Washington D.C.;Power Station of Art,Shanghai;and K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen,Düsseldorf.Her work has also been featured in the Biennale of Sydney,the Setouchi International Art Festival in Japan,the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea and the Yokohama Triennale,Japan.In 2015,Shiota represented Japan at the 56th Venice Biennale.
