摘要
父亲是一位人类学家,他既是一位"作为人类学家的父亲"(长期田野工作的信仰者与实践者),同时也是一位"作为父亲的人类学家"(在家中有着身为人父的严肃,但在严父的角色之下却带着人类学家的开明)。总体来看,父亲曾在不同场合说他一生的研究历程,是从具体而抽象、从异文化到己文化,再从单一文化至全人类文化。用人类学的术语来说,就是从"可观察的文化"到"不可观察的文化",从"他者的文化"到"我群的文化",从"微观的文化"到"宏观的文化"。这种由具体至抽象、由远而近、从微见巨的模式可说是传统人类学家养成的理想境界。也就是这样的训练,使他的著作得以游刃有余地进出于不同层次的文化现象里,出入于不同文化的异同间,从而由细节微观里演绎宏观的理论架构。
My father Li Yih-yuan is an anthropologist. As an anthropologist, he has persisted of the believe and practice of field research for a long time;while at home, he is a strict father with anthropologists' openness. In general, my father described his research life on different occasions as a process from concretness to abstraction, from other culture to own culture and from monoculture to the culture of whole human beings, which is, in anthropological terms, from observable culture, culture of others and micro-cultures to non-observable culture, culture of own community and macro-cultures. Such a mode from concretness to abstraction, from being far and subtle to being close and huge provides an ideal path to train and develop an anthropologist, with which his works are able to handle various cultural phenomena and differences and similarities of various cultures, to establish macro theoretical framework by subtle details.
