亦园师的学术成就与贡献,学术早有共识,受到高度赞誉。亦园师长年研究汉人文化,他由多方观察、中外例比而整理出来的中国文化的基本文法。亦园师认为中国文化精髓,包括俗民的小传统及上层社会精英的大传统,是"均衡"与"和谐",也就是儒家所谓的"致中和",相当重视汉人民间习俗、仪式的传统。亦园师乃是一位能由"小"见"大",能以"通俗"诠释"精粹"的文化学者,无论研究教学为人处世,虽有时疾言,有时厉色,却莫不以其君子之诚相对待。

Mr. Li Yih-yuan's achievements and contribution have been unanimously and highly acclaimed by academia. He was dedicated in a long run to the culture research of Han people, and sorted out the basic principles of Chinese culture by means of observation and comparason between Chinese culture and foreign cultures. Mr. Li thinks that the essence of Chinese culture, including those insignificant traditions for common people and significant ones for elite of the society, is balance and harmony, which means to achieve the "centrality and harmony" in Confucianism, therefore, he attaches great importance to the tradition of folk customs and rites among Han people. As a cultural scholar, Mr. Li is expert in seeking significance from commonplace, and interpreting profundity in simple words. Even though he is a strict teacher and researcher, he is sincere to everyone.
