The Soul of Guangdong:The Image of Women in Sun Zhou’s Southern Urban Movies

作为一个从山东到珠影闯荡的导演,孙周在不同的历史时期拍摄了《给咖啡加点糖》(1987)、《心香》(1992)、《秋喜》(2009)等南国都市电影。这几部电影呈现了南粤地域景观与人文景观,塑造了三个不同的女性形象,反映出创作者对传统文化的认同与寻找精神家园的执迷,同时,表达了自身对广东城市文化的迷惑与热爱。从这些电影中可以洞悉南国都市人、都市文化发展的轨迹,感受人们在发展期所经历的阵痛,以及导演孙周对广东区域形象与自我认同的塑造与想象。

As a director from Shandong to Zhujiang Film Studio,Sun Zhou made southern urban movies as well as With Sugar (1987), The True Hearted (1992) and Qiu Xi (2009) in different historical periods.These films presented regional landscape and humanity landscape of Guangdong,shaped three different female images,reflected the director's identify with traditional culture and the obsession of finding spiritual home,as well as expressed his own confusion and love for Guangdong's urban culture.We can understand the development trajectory of people and urban culture in southern city thoroughly from these films,feel the pain that people experienced during the evolution period,along with Sun Zhou's molding and imagination of Guangdong's regional image and identification.
