Starting from the prevalence of Black English in Alice Walker’s master work The Color Purple,the paper focuses on Walker’s intention to pursue and revitalize the black culture and tradition.In The Color Purple,Walker combined Black English with standard English to express her feeling for seeking Africa.It’s not only to celebrate black identity but also a female writer’s searching for an abstract mother.This kind of thought of equality roots in African religion,which is the core of Walker’s idea.
