In 2018,the political situation in Laos was generally stable,and the government focused on enacting and amending laws to“slim down”the civil servants;the annual economic growth was 6.8%,and the fiscal deficit was higher than expected. The government focused on improving the investment environment,intensified the reform of large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises,consolidated diplomatic relations with neighboring countries and actively participated in ASEAN regional affairs.
