Discussion on the Auspicious and Ominous lines in Zhouyi

在《周易》释史上,上爻一般认为是不吉利的爻位,这一观念源于"爻位说",本质上是封建等级思想在《周易》经文中的附和,并不符合《周易》经文的实际。利用大数据统计方法,对《周易》64条上爻爻辞按吉凶性质考察,可分为"吉、凶、吉凶中性或未定、吉凶未涉"四大类,得出上爻并非一定为"凶"。对上爻吉凶考察或者探索《周易》本义必须走出含有封建等级思想的"爻位说"的窠臼,要用哲学的眼光来考察。

In the history of the interpretation of Zhouyi,the upper yao line is generally considered to be an unlucky yao line.This concept is derived from the“yao potential theory”,which is essentially an echo of feudal hierarchical thoughts in the text of Zhouyi and does not conform to the reality of the text of Zhouyi.Based on the statistical method of big data,the linear judgment lines of the 64 lines in Zhouyi can be divided into four categories according to the properties of good and evil,including“good luck,bad luck,neutral or uncertain judgment of good and bad luck”.In order to study the positive and negative aspects of the upper yao line or explore the original meaning of Zhouyi,we must break out of the pattern of“yao potential theory”which contains feudal hierarchical thoughts and examine it from a philosophical perspective.
