Adaptation and Selection: A Study of the Self-translation of Eileen Chang

张爱玲不仅是作家,也是中国翻译史上少有的自译者之一。通过对张爱玲自译行为和自译作品的分析,发现张爱玲在自译身份、目标读者和自我能力方面进行了选择性适应。同时,张爱玲也在翻译目的和翻译策略方面进行了适应性选择。为了实现自译作品的"生存"和"长存",张爱玲采取了不用的翻译策略来实现在语言维、文化维和交际维的转换。

Eileen Chang is not only a very important writer in Chinese contemporary literature,but also one of the very few famous self-translator in Chinese translation history.Through the analysis of Eileen Chang’s self-translation and self-translated works,it is found that she took selective adaptation in translator’s identity,target readers and self capacities.At the same time,she also took adaptive selection in the aims and strategies of translation.In order to realize the“survival”and“long live”of her self-translated works,Chang adopted various translation strategies in the transformation of linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions.
