Id,Ego and Superego——The Exploration of the Development of the Characters' Personality in The Time Traveler's Wife

美国作家奥德丽·尼芬格的小说《时间旅行者的妻子》描述了男女主人公在时间与爱的复杂交错中勇敢探索,发现自己的成长过程。基于此,从弗洛伊德人格理论视域探讨这部小说中男女主人公从本我到自我再到超我的人格发展历程。在梳理弗洛伊德人格理论的基础上,探讨小说主人公的三种人格结构:本我、自我和超我,分析了他们人格发展的过程,最终在本我和自我之间保持平衡,达到超我的状态。

The Time Traveler's Wife , written by Audrey Niffenegger in the USA, describe that two main characters try to struggle to live and find themselves in the process of time travelling and love. The thesis explores the development of the two characters' personality from Id to Ego to Supergo, from a perspective of Freud's theory of personality. This thesis summarizes Freud's theory of personality. Based on the theory, the thesis probes three levels of personality, namely, id, ego and superego and analyzes the development of the hero and heroine's personality. Finally the two main characters seek to maintain a balance between nature and society, managing to get their moral awareness heightened.
