In Oe Kenzaburo’s decades of novel writing career,his vision has always been focused on the marginalized characters,highlighting Japan’s social underclass living conditions after World War II by the influence of American capitalism. Through the plight of all kinds of marginalized people,it shows the restlessness and anxiety of the marginalized people in the predicament of modern society,to study the way out of the modern cultural crisis. It embodies the writer’s exploration and thinking about human suffering,and condenses the writer’s humanitarian and democratic personality pursuit. Miehel Yethpmaki,chairman of the jury of the Nobel prize for literature,gave a high appraisal of the characters created in Oe Kenzaburo’s novels: Through the “model” created in Oe Kenzaburo’s novels,we can learn about the delicate situation of mankind in the past and present cultural conflicts of Japan.
