摘要
约翰·契弗《泅泳者》主人公耐第视其穿过各家各户游泳池泅水回家的旅程为朝圣、探险之旅,多次称自己为"朝圣者"和"探险家"。本文拟回归耐第还乡之本意,解析其"朝圣""追寻"旅程中"渎圣""幻灭"的本质,揭露美国丰裕社会中人们失乡的焦虑与恐惧,以期为现代人探求精神归属提供些许启示。
Neddy,the protagonist of John Cheever’s The Swimmer,considers his homeward journey through neighbours’swimming pools as pilgrimage and expedition,and he claims to be pilgrim and explorer.This paper aims to analyze his homeward journey,probes into its nature of sacrilege and disillusion,and reveals people’s anxiety and fear of being homeless in the affluent America,so as to be helpful in pursuing the soul habitat of modern people.
