身为日籍来华人士的辻听花,对中国京剧情有独钟,利用《顺天时报》的独特地位,与京剧界人士保持密切交流的良好关系,不断提升剧评水平。又因辻听花日人和报人的独特身份,其能坚持固有评判标准,不断提升剧评质量和影响力。但上述方面也给其剧评和菊选活动带来了一定负面影响。

As a Japanese visitor to China, Shi Jinghua had a special fondness for Chinese Peking Opera. By taking advantage of the unique status of Shuntian Times, he had maintained a good relationship with personages in the Peking Opera circle and kept improving the level of his dramatic criticism. Moreover, because of his unique identity of both a Japanese and a journalist, he could adhere to the inherent criteria of evaluation and constantly improve the quality and influence of his dramatic criticism. However, the above aspects have also brought some negative effects on his dramatic criticism and the selection of Beijing opera performers.
