The paper,based on the historical records in the Canton Encyclopedia,focuses on the representative figures who made important contributions to the spread and development of western medicine in Guangzhou during the Republic of China.For example,William W.Cadbury was the excellent representative of foreign doctors who came to China during this period.Yin Duanmo was the first Chinese doctor who independently compiled books on western medicine.Zhang Zhujun was the first female western physician in Chinese history.The three representative figures were described respectively in terms of their unique status,personal life and their main contributions in the medical field,representing the development of Western medicine and promoting the humanistic spirit of medicine,establishing models and norms,providing references and inspiration for the career development of medical workers in the new era.
