《唐李贺子上阿郎、阿婆书》“坐”字再探

Study on “zuo(坐)” in Family Letter from Li He-zi to His Parents

在吐鲁番墓葬遗址出土的《唐李贺子上阿郎、阿婆书》中,前人将具有方言性质的"坐"字解释为"生产、坐月子"之义,不妥。运用本校法、相关字典韵书、方言材料,及已有文献,对"坐"字进行新的解释,认为原句中很可能并无"到"字,且"坐"在该篇文书中是"怀孕"义,而非"生产"义。

In Family Letter from Li He-zi to His Parents from Turpan Tomb relic,some scholars think that"zuo(坐)"means giving birth to a baby,which is not a proper explanation.The character is studied by using text-proofing,dictionaries,phonology books,dialect materials and synchronic literatures.A conclusion which is different from former scholars'is drawn:there is no"dao(到)"in this letter and the meaning of"zuo(坐)"means conceiving a baby,not giving birth to a baby.
