Objective To investigate the application of Bio-Plex suspension array system in diagnosis and treatment of wheezing syndrome in children under 5 years old. Methods Forty-two cases of childhood wheezing syndrome were divided into two groups according to the corresponding criteria: wheezing group with atopic body(n=22) and wheezing group without atopic body(n=20). Twenty healthy children were used as the control group. Bio-Plex suspension array system were applied in detecting the levels of IL-4, IL-6, IL-10 and IL-17. Results There was no significant difference among the three groups in ages or genders. Compared with control group, the levels of IL-4(15.9±4.8), IL-6(164.5±34.3), IL-10(43.7±4.5) and IL-17(24.7±3.0) in peripheral blood of the patients with childhood wheezing syndrome were all significantly higher than those of control group(P<0.05). Compared with wheezing group without atopic body, the levels of IL-4(18.3±3.9), IL-6(190.7±14.5), IL-10(48.0±2.1) and IL-17(26.8±1.9) of the patients in wheezing group with atopic body were all significantly higher than those of wheezing group without atopic body(P<0.05). Conclusion There are many immune imbalances and abnormal expression of related cytokines with Th2 cells, Th17 cells and Treg cells in childhood wheezing syndrome according to the application of Bio-Plex suspension array system.
