摘要美国作家托马斯·品钦的晚年力作《性本恶》被认为是该作家繁复的叙事风格中最好读的一部小说,2014年首次搬上银屏。这部作品再现了这位一生遁世隐居的作家深切的人道主义精神。托马斯·品钦的人道主义精神主要在三个方面得到了体现,即担当介入的社会责任感;关注边缘群体的生存状况;倡导博爱和救赎。 Inherent vice, an influential novel by Thomas Pynchon in his old age, is considered as the most readable one among his complex narrations, and was adapted into a movie in 2004. It is a complete representation of Thomas Pynchon’s humanitarianism spirits after his long seclusion from the rest of the world. Through analyses of the novel’s text and theme, Thomas Pynchon’s humanitarianism spirits are embodied in three aspects-his taking responsibilities of society, concerning marginal groups in society and advocating love and redemption.
